Abstract

Arsenic-“The King of all poison”, is linked to a lot of adverse health outcomes in both chronic and acute cases. It is one of the major contaminant of our ground water supply and exposure affects almost every organ system in the body including the brain. In view of its wide spread toxicity affecting a large population all over the world and modern medicine offers limited success in providing effective cure for arsenic induced toxicity so there is a need of an alternative. Medicinal plants can play an important role in mitigating the deleterious effect of this heavy metal. A problem with the uses of plant is that its efficacy and effectiveness have rarely been demonstrated using modern scientific investigations. So proper standardization of this herbal drug will be beneficial before its actual use.
