Abstract

Children learn better when they socialise with items, tools and people in their environment. Provisionof creative fun-filled environment boosts children’s learning.6 Objectives of the study was to assess theexposure level of Mass Media in School children, To determine the impact of Mass Media on behaviouralpatterns of School children and To determine the relationship between the behavioural patterns of Schoolchildren and selected demographic variable. The research design adopted for this study is descriptive design.The subjects consisted of 80 School children who fulfilled the inclusion criteria of this study and Stratifiedrandom sampling was used to select respondents from each strata. A likert scale was used to assess use ofmass media and the impact of mass media on behaviour pattern from the subjects. The data analysis wasdone with descriptive and inferential statistics. The data was analyzed using the frequency distribution andpercentage. The association of the mass media usage & behaviour pattern with the demographic variablewas done. The level of significance was set at 0.05.The findings indicates that more than half (53.8%) ofthe School children had moderate impact of mass media on behavioural pattern, 41.3% of them had mildimpact and 5% of them had severe impact of mass media on behavioural patterns. Conclusion of the findingsin the study conducted indicate that more than half (53.8%) of the School children had moderate impact ofmass media on behavioural pattern, 41.3% of them had mild impact and 5% of them had severe impact ofmass media on behavioural patterns also affected academic performance, daily activities & isolation, sleep,dietary pattern.
