Abstract

Temperature programmed reaction (TPR) technique was applied to study formation of benzene from n-hexane over Pt/Al2O3 catalyst treated in hydrogen at different temperatures prior to the reaction. Upon increasing the temperature of hydrogen treatment the peaks of benzene formed shifted to higher temperatures. The observed phenomenon is discussed in terms of the formation of excessively dehydrogenated surface intermediates (EDSI) for benzene formation as well as of the mobility of the overall hydrogen pool.
