Abstract

Using recent information on the reactions of metastable neon atoms with HCl, the role of HCl ionization by metastable neon atoms in self-sustained discharge pumped XeCl laser kinetics was studied by means of kinetic codes. A detailed comparison of the modeled results by the codes with and without these reactions for a XeCl laser is presented. The comparison shows that the higher the HCl partial pressure, and/or the higher the total pressure, and/or the lower the charge voltage, the more important the influence of these reactions on the laser performance.
