Abstract

AbstractInvariably, no two physicians think alike in diagnosing a disease and therefore, medical science is imprecise/ fuzzy. Probability theory has witnessed successes in several areas of science and technology however, it may not be possible to apply two valued based probability in medical disease diagnosis as medical documentation is always in words and never in numeric terms. Realizing ground reality, we believe that fuzzy set theory- human centric modeling could be an effective armamentarium in medical disease diagnosis in general, and urological disease diagnosis in particular. The limited study carried out by the authors in the past infers that expert urologists can achieve around 90% accuracy in urological disease provisional diagnosis for above 40 years male patients using fuzzy theoretic operations. In this papers, apart from urological disease diagnosis, the authors tried to take a deeper look into concentration operators used in fuzzy set theory and also application of kappa coefficient in urological diseases diagnosis by expert and upcoming urologists via sonography images. Comparison of one of the existing software designed for disease diagnosis with the one developed by the authors is an integral part of the study.KeywordsUrological disease diagnosis for maleFuzzy set theoryPerceptions of urologistCohen’s Kappa coefficient
