Abstract

In this paper, C3H8/air is used as the explosive medium to explore the effect of the magnetic field on the gas explosion reaction and its mechanism. The explosion suppression performances of ferromagnetic materials and diamagnetic materials are tested in a self-developed explosion-suppression material testing system, and the explosion products are collected for qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results show that the magnetic domains of ferromagnetic materials enhance the ability of velvet to inhibit chain-initiated reactions and oxidation reactions and promote the binding reaction between free radicals. Thus, ferromagnetic materials have better explosion suppression performance than diamagnetic materials. Furthermore, the effect of a DC magnetic field on the gas explosion reaction is studied. When the tube is empty, the DC magnetic field promotes the gas explosion reaction. In contrast, Due to the iron velvet is magnetized by the DC magnetic field, the DC magnetic field dominantly strengthened the ability of iron velvet to suppress explosion instead of increasing the probability of collisions among the particles. This study reveals the effect and mechanism of a magnetic field on the gas explosion reaction, and it can provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of gas explosions.
