Abstract

The enthalpy, Δ H, and entropy, Δ S, for triplet exciplex formation of the magnesium monopyridinate-meso-tetraphenyl-porphyrin complex with nitro compounds have been determined. The high stability of the triplet exciplexes under study is shown to be due to positive Δ S values. Both Δ H and Δ S for the triplet exciplexes studied and singlet exciplexes described in the literature are associated by a common linear compensation dependence.
