Abstract

The Colony Stimulating Factor 1 receptor (CSF1R) is a class III tyrosine kinase receptor belonging to the same family as FLT3 and c-KIT. While its role in myelopoiesis is well established, CSF1R has not been implicated to play any role in normal lymphopoiesis. However, CSF1R is aberrantly expressed and supports growth and survival of the Reed Stenberg cells in classical human Hodgkin B cell lymphoma (Lamprecht B, 2010) and recently, a novel in-frame MEF2D/CSF1R fusion has been identified in pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Lilljebjörn H, 2013).
