Abstract
This work of research throws a light on the role of central government in creation of new state vis-a-vis position of State while deciding on the issue of creation, alteration and formation of new State in India. this research also explores the various situation and circumstances in which various States were formed. a case of newly formed State "Telangana" is discussed in detail in this research paper. Reliance has been placed on findings of various committees and commissions relating to the creation of new States.
