Abstract

The effect of zinc (henceforth, Zn) ion substitution on the structural and magnetic properties of dried and calcined manganese-nickel (henceforth, Mn-Ni) ferrite, at 100 °C and 600 °C for two hours, of chemical formula ZnxMn0.5–xNi0.5Fe2O4 (x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4) has been studied. It is found that Zn ions substitution and calcination process increase the average grain diameter, reform the shape, and improve the magnetization of dried and calcined ZnxMn0.5−xNi0.5Fe2O4 nanoferrites. X-ray diffraction (henceforth, XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (henceforth, TEM) are used to study the size and the morphology of dried and calcined nanoferrites, respectively. Vibrating sample magnetometer (henceforth, VSM) is used to evaluate magnetic parameters such as specific saturation magnetization (henceforth, Ms), coercive force (henceforth, Hc) and remanence (henceforth, Mr).
