Abstract

This scoping review explores the relatively uncharted territory of art therapy’s potential influence on the identity exploration and well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals. This synthesis of peer reviewed research gathered from diverse databases (such as SCOPUS, PsycINFO, and Elsevier) underscores the promising role of art therapy in assisting individuals to navigate the intricate path of comprehending their sexual and gender identities. The review also highlights the necessity for the establishment of ethical guidelines for supporting the community. The scoping review contributes to the evolving understanding of art therapy’s efficacy within the LGBTQIA+ context, and emphasizes application and practice with diverse cultural groups.
