Abstract
Role of academician is not only as an agent that disseminates knowledge through lecture and research but also as an agent that is able to produce marketable new research products to help universities generate income. However, rate of university commercialized research production is still low. The dual demands that need to be fulfilled by academicians are very challenging especially for those who work in Research University. The aim of this study is to investigate on how entrepreneurial self-efficacy influences academicians to successfully commercialize their research product. This article reviews the literature on commercialization concept which includes mechanisms and challenges. Various literatures related to entrepreneurial self-efficacy were also assessed to understand the concept of entrepreneurial self-efficacy role in academic context. This article attempts to understand how role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy can influence academicians to overcome commercialization challenges. This paper found that different level of entrepreneurial self-efficacy influence academician to pursue commercialization activity successfully. This paper will help in understanding on how entrepreneurial self-efficacy can influence academician in conducting commercialization behavior. This will help university to encourage academician to conduct commercialization activity despite obstacles that they face.
