Abstract

This study examines the effects on social interaction and language development in role plays. The plays are not the free activities children themselves play during pre-school-service, but are the activities involved in formal or informal education system. They currently take place a great deal in the curriculum of pre-service teaching programs as well as being a prolific teaching method in formal education. Plays, which improve children's faculties and abilities in many ways, serve like a rich source of development. Today there are many kinds of plays having different training and improving aspects. The role plays selected for scrutiny have proved that they contribute to the immediate social and language development of children. Since the plays need at least two partners to perform, they likely create social interactions which eventually lead to dialog and communication between partners.
