Abstract

Coaching is a non-directive relationship to support clients in reaching their goals. From this perspective, coaching models often rely on the assumption that clients have clear goals, which can lead to frustration when they come to coaching without clarity. This also highlights a sort of bias within coaches when evaluating clients’ coachability. This article introduces a new coaching model called ‘ROGUE’, it describes the theory behind it and explains each stage of the model. It also shares an anonymous case study to evidence how it can contribute to enhancing understanding and building meaningful goals for an effective coaching session.Originality / Value of work(coaches, mentors, researchers, training institutes)The value of this work resides in offering a new coaching model – created and tested by the author of this paper – as a thought-provoking and inspiring tool to ignite a debate, enhance reflection among practitioners when thinking about coaching models, and contribute to their continuous professional development, as a standard practice, to provide effective coaching, especially for clients with unclear goals.
