Abstract
The object of my study is to show how, at the end of the XIIIth century, both the writings and the figure of Rodrigo, both as author and historical actor, came to be constructed in a variety of ways. By means of a detailed reading of a number of passages in two early translations, I suggest that the translations of the Toledano’s chronicle provided a response to the historiographical project of the crown.
