Abstract

The rod mill kinetics of Egyptian feldspar (albite from South Sinai and feldspathic sand from Eastern Desert) has been investigated as part of a study on the beneficiation of feldspar to develop means of predicting size distribution from processing parameters. A mass balance model has been developed to simulate the grinding of feldspar. Grinding experiments were carried out in wet conditions on monosize samples of feldspathic sand and albite feldspar in a Wedag rod mill. Kinetic parameters such as breakage function and selection function were used to simulate the grinding process. The simulation agreed closely with the experimental grinding results, suggesting it is possible to predict the size distribution at any grinding time.
