Abstract
In the working of coal beds, tectonic faults have a marked influence on the stress-strain state of the rock and hence on the rock pressure manifestations. This article deals with rock pressure phenomena in fault zones and their neighborhoods during the working of isolated and adjacent seams, for the case of the Tkvarcheli deposit. In the planning of mining operations in faulted coal seams, it is necessary to avoid dangerous situations which depend on the angle of dip of the fault and the direction from which the fault is approached. The hazards are greater near steeply dipping faults. (LTN)
