Abstract

In this letter, we propose a robust approach to time-delay estimation for acoustic indoor localization. Particularly, we focus on the acoustic indoor localization that works in real environments, which have been seldom addressed in previous studies. In the actual environments, it is difficult to estimate the correct time delays for localization due to multipath signals caused by acoustic reverberation. The proposed algorithm minimizes the effect of multipaths and determines the target position based on a novel reliability measure. Experiments conducted in both actual room and simulated environments showed good performance of the proposed technique.
