Abstract

It is demanding to estimate the randomly changing load disturbance for multi-area power systems(MPS) with output delay and unmodeled dynamics. To reconstruct the load disturbance, a novel sliding mode observer(SMO) is designed to estimate the disturbance and state simultaneously. The proposed SMO scheme can ensure that the estimation error is robust asymptotic stability. Since the novel SMO only requires the output and control information, the proposed reconstruction scheme reduces the cost of measurement. To validate the effectiveness of the SMO scheme, simulation results based on the IEEE 39-BUS test system are provided under different load disturbances.
