Abstract

Abstract This paper deals with robust analysis and robust control of linear continuous-time systems whose state-space models are subject to unstructured uncertainties on the state matrix. A new bound on the 2-norm of the matrix of uncertainties which guarantees that the eigenvalues of the uncertain state matrix keep on lying in a second order region of the complex plane is given. It is compared to other existing bounds. Then, a robust pole assignment method which maximizes this new bound is proposed. Analysis and control are both illustrated by numerical examples.
