Abstract

Many disturbances and various faults can occur in power systems so in this article the control purpose is to increase the stability and enhance the robustness of power system against different faults by combining fractional calculus with adaptive sliding mode controller (ASMC). In this article a new Power System Stabilizer (PSS) based on an adaptive fractional order variable structure controller is proposed. At first, the system equations are transformed to the canonical form and then an Adaptive Fractional order Sliding Mode Control (AFrSMC) is designed and its system stability is shown. Simulations are carried out to indicate the efficiency of the proposed scheme. The proposed method is compared with the conventional ASMC.
