Abstract

This paper deals with the problem of robust fault detection for interconnected systems. The outputs of the interconnected systems serve as inputs of the filter which is used as the residual generator. Therefore, whichever subsystem the fault comes from, by comparison with the change of residual in normal and faulty situations, the occurrence of the faults can be detected. The linear matrix inequality optimization approach and the Bounded Real lemma are used to solve the H ∞ problem, and sufficient conditions for the design of the fault detection filter is formulated by linear matrix inequalities. A simulation example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed theory.
