Abstract

At present most of fabrics inspection are performed manually by human inspectors. Such manual defect detection procedures are commonly agreed upon to be inefficient since it consumes time and money additionally the output results are inconsistent. The implementation of an automated visual inspection system for defects detection in the textile industry is of crucial importance. This paper presents a new algorithm for fabric defect detection in textile industry. The proposed algorithm uses entropy filtering and minimum error thresholding. The algorithm was applied on several images of different fabric defects. The proposed algorithm showed promising performance in fabric defect detection with 96.66% detection success rate.
