Abstract

Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation methods based on conventional adaptive signal processing are not robust to outliers. A robust DOA estimation technique based on an exponential hyperbolic cosine function (EHCF) under such situations is proposed in this letter. To further enhance the performance of the proposed approach, a variable scale parameter strategy has been incorporated into the proposed scheme. The new methods have been shown to offer improved and robust DOA estimation performance.
