Abstract

This paper presents the power system transient stability improvement for interconnected areas by using the Fault Current Limiter (FCL) and the Energy Capacitor Storage (ECS). This paper uses the Resistive type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (R-SFCL) to optimize the proper resistance by using Genetic Algorithm (GA). The ECS controller is designed by using the H ∞ loop-shaping control method considering various conditions of the power system. The simulation results reveal that the combination of the suitable R-SFCL and ECS can enhance the performance of the power system transient stability better than the installation of stand-alone ECS.
