Abstract

This paper considers the design of an auto-voltage regulator (AVR) and power system stabilizer (PSS) for the case of a single machine connected to an infinite bus. This paper exploits the Internal Model Control (IMC) technique to analyze the inherent conflict between voltage regulation and damping improvement for synchronous generators and develop an effective controller structure which allows co-ordinated direct trade-off of voltage regulation and damping enhancements. >
