Abstract

A robust bidirectional probe useful in hostile environments (such as found in gas and dust explosions) has been modified for measuring gas velocity in turbulent flow. The results of the study show that the probe can measure mean velocities in turbulent flow up to Reynolds numbers of 50 000. Results of this research also suggest that the probe can also measure turbulent intensity over the same range of Reynolds numbers.
