Abstract
This paper describes the advantages of using Ruby on Rails in commercial and enterprise class web application development. This paper also describes the power and advantages of Open source in the field of web development. Rails is an open source web application framework for the Ruby programming language which is typically integrated with database server such as MySQL and a web server such as Apache. This paper includes the overview and features of rails. Some useful rails plugins are also discussed. Keywords: database, open source, web application framework, web server.
