Abstract

Minimum-energy rest-to-rest maneuver problem of flexible space structures is analyzed from the point of view of the robustness performance. The switching and final times of minimum-energy maneuver are very significant parameters to determine the control performance as well as in the case of the time-optimal maneuver of the bang-bang control. Robustness conditions for minimum-energy maneuver are studied to improve the robustness performance of the control and the validity of the robustified minimum-energy maneuver is verified by numerical simulation employed with a benchmark model. Furthermore, a method is discussed to determine the switching and final times on the consideration of the total amount of the kinetic and elastic energy of the system.
