Abstract

: For patients with central bronchopulmonary malignancies, sleeve lobectomy serves as an alternative to pneumonectomy. In recent years, robotic-assisted technique has been innovatively developed and applied in sleeve lobectomy. Here, we introduce a patient treated with chemotherapy who received robotic bronchial sleeve lobectomy without pulmonary vessel anastomosis in our department. The patient was a 53-year-old male smoker, who had suffered irritable cough for 6 months. During surgery we found that the tumor was tightly adhered to the pulmonary artery. Robotic scissors were used to separate the tumor from the surface of the pulmonary artery. Finally, the tumor was removed along with the relevant bronchus, and the pulmonary artery remained intact. The tumor margins were verified as negative by fast frozen pathology during the procedure. This experience in our department demonstrates the advantages of robot-assisted bronchial lobectomy in preserving pulmonary vessels in patients with pulmonary arterial adventitia involvement.
