Abstract

ABSTRACT Honduras is one of the top 10 coffee exporters in the world where more than 90% of the production is determined by SMEs (small and medium enterprises). Many of them are located in areas with problematic access to brokers, maritime ports and customs. is a small producer that sells through brokers in the west area of the country. Lately the government has been improving roads and accesses in the main cities and rural agricultural productive areas. The company has been considering new access expecting better timing in coffee transportation (door to door) by measuring driving time of the actual conventional route and a new one. This document was centered in the evaluation of the variation between routes, finding the new route is a better option to move the product from the producer to the broker, expecting a reduction in cost transportation and consequently improving net income and profit.
