Abstract

This report details road accident trends in Norway. According to the report, despite a rise in the number of drivers in Norway, fatalities have decreased since 1970. This decrease is due in part to the installment of seat belts and air bags in cars, use of moped and motorcycle helmets, the introduction of a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit, and low speed limits. Other safety measures that have been introduced since 1970 include roundabouts, road lighting, driver education. Pedestrian and bicycle paths have also played a part in the decrease in fatalities.
