Abstract

Name service is one of the most important parts for ID/Resource management in Internet of Things (IoT). Many countries and organizations have designed different naming schemes to identify their own resources, such as Object Name Service (ONS) in EPCGlobe. However, there are some issues in the current solutions, such as incompatibility of identity codes and single-root name service. In this paper, we designed and implemented a public Resource Name Service (RNS) platform to provide a compatible and equitable name service for the IoT. And then, we discuss the services provided by RNS, such as resource locating service, auxiliary authentication service and anti-counterfeiting service, in order to illustrate that our proposed RNS can support rich applications for the end user and is a promising scheme for the name service in IoT.
