Abstract

Remission and flare are important concepts in the evolution and evaluation of spondyloarthritis. Currently, they have no consensual definition, and should take into account the phenotypic presentation of the disease as well as extra-rheumatologic features. Remission represents the therapeutic target, currently assessed mainly by disease activity evaluation of the rheumatologic involvement. Flare is an important component of follow up and therapeutic adaptation. The definition of flare and the tools for its assessment represent a matter of investigation in spondyloarthritis.
