Abstract

AbstractRoman Law in Reims, An excerpt from the Epitome Aegidii in the ms. Milano, Biblioteca Ambrosiana, A. 46 inf. This Roman law excerpt is transmitted by a manuscript of the late ninth century from Reims. Up to now research has mainly focused on the canonistic parts of the codex. The detailed analysis of the excerpt includes a comprehensive description and examination. Further contemporary sources of legal provenance are consulted for placing the excerpt in its historical context. It becomes apparent that the collection was compiled specifically for the Reims diocese and its needs. At the end of the article an edition of the excerpt is given.
