Abstract

Evidence is presented that lipids play a role in the mitochondrial electron-transfer chain of Cauliflower inflorescences. Extraction of mitochondrial lipids with aqueous acetone causes an important decrease of NADH—cytochrome c-reductase, NADH-dehydrogenase, succinate—cytochrome c-reductase and succinate-dehydrogenase activities. The activities of the two first complexes can be restored by addition of lipids in a micellar state.
