Abstract

Northrop Grumman Corporation has developed an advanced 2nd generation lR sensor system to provide wide area high resolution imagery from unmanned (UAV), fixed wing, or rotary wing aircraft. The sensor system, called Reconnaissance Infrared Surveillance Target Acquisition (RISTA), consists of a 2nd generation FLIR/Line Scanner, a digital data link, a ground processing facility (GPF), and an aided target recognizer (AiTR). The concept of operation together with a description of the sensor, the functions of the GPF, and use of the AiTR are provided. Finally, imagery generated by this high resolution, wide field of view system together with performance evaluation results are shown.
