Abstract

The paper gives an overview of the performance of technological equipment subject to the influence of various kinds of defects. The possibility of reducing the operational risk during the operation of equipment with the considered defects is considered. Particular attention is paid to the influence of a defect in the base metal of the “delamination” type on the further safe operation of technological equipment. The design of equipment with flaking-type defects was performed by the finite element method using the ANSYS software package. The results obtained permit to conclude that delamination does not significantly affect the load-carrying capacity of the equipment as long as it does not propagate locally.
