Abstract

(Abstracted from Am J Obstet Gynecol 2017;217:603.e1–603.e6) With strong evidence that the origin of epithelial ovarian cancer is in the fallopian tube, use of opportunistic salpingectomy to remove the tubes can decrease incidence of ovarian cancer and avoid the need for oophorectomy. The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that concomitant salpingectomy should be considered with every hysterectomy.
