Abstract
Previous studies have found that MRSA-colonized patients are at higher risk for invasive MRSA infection as compared to non-colonized patients. However, the extent of this risk has not been well-defined for subsets of patients. In the context of an MRSA screening program for inpatients (on admission and every 7 days of hospitalization), we performed an analysis to assess if MRSA nasal carriers have an increased risk of MRSA SSI following orthopedic/spine surgery.
