Abstract

The aim of this work is to study the risk of flooding of the national road N6 at the level of the crossing of the wadi Asla in the Taourirt region. The choice of this study area is due on the one hand to the importance of this road which presents a strategic transport axis for the eastern region, and on the other hand to the investigations around the recent floods recorded in this place and which caused traffic cuts for hours. The methodology adopted consists in the hydraulic simulation of floods at the Asla wadi using the HEC-RAS software. The input data for this simulation are determined by a hydrological study which will make it possible to define the flood flow at different return periods, and this by using empirical methods and statistical adjustment methods in particular the Gradex method by exploitation of the hydrometric data of the Taourirt station. This study will constitute a decision support tool for managers of the national road network in examining the appropriateness of flood protection actions by comparing the consequences of an overflow of water for road users, local residents and road structures.
