Abstract

The first section describes how medical law has evolved into a major part of legal practice. This is important for obstetricians and gynaecologists who deal with patients who are relatively well and have high expectations. Unsurprisingly, such patients often resort to litigation when apparent harm occurs during the course of their treatment.
