Abstract

Drug‐induced prolongation of the QT interval can increase risk of developing the life‐threatening, albeit rare, atypical ventricular tachycardia known as torsade de pointes. Research literature, including individual case reports as well as meta‐analyses, suggests that use of atypical antipsychotic agents, especially sertindole and ziprasidone, can prolong the QT interval.
