Abstract

Respiratory infections are perhaps the most common human disease. Acute lower respiratory infections (ALRI) are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children under ve years of age. Recent estimates suggest that approximately 120-156 million cases of ALRI occur worldwide each year, of which approximately 1.4 million are 2-5 fatal.
