Abstract

The computation cost and the limited geo technical drill information are two difficulties often encountered during a probability based analysis of foundation pit. A new response surface (RS) method and the bootstrap simulation (BS) method are introduced to overcome these problems. The input parameters for constructing the RS are firstly prepared through uniform design (UD) and after obtaining the outputs through finite element method (FEM), the inputs and outputs are regressed through a non-parameter regression (NPR) to achieve RS. Then, based on the RS, the BS is carried out directly basing on the samples provided by drill datum. A practical engineering is analyzed. The results show that RS together with BS provide a useful analysis tool for risk analysis of foundation pit directly using field drill information instead of using hypothetical probability distributions.
