Abstract

The coupling of modern data collection strategies with social distancing and societal lockdown measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in one of the largest ever natural experiments in the delivery of paediatric health services. Investigators have been able to rely on rich repositories of electronic records and administrative data to track fluctuations in disease burden, helping to shine light on both the favourable and unfavourable ripple effects of large-scale efforts designed to curb the spread of SARS-CoV-2.
