Abstract

A new design of aperture-coupled microstrip antennas for circular polarization (CP) is presented. The CP microstrip antenna is excited by using a series microstrip-line-feed configuration through the coupling of a ring slot in the ground. The effects of different ring-slot sizes on CP performance are investigated. The experimental results show that, when the mean radius of the ring slot is increased, the CP operating frequency is significantly decreased and a wider CP bandwidth can also be obtained. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
