Abstract

During the next 25 years it is unlikely that the practical aspects of ringing will change as much as they have in the last 25 years with the widespread introduction of mist‐nets and cannon‐nets for catching birds. However in the field of data management and processing, already affecting the Ringing Office and being exploited by a few ringers, large‐scale changes are likely. In particular extra use will probably be made of the ringing information through such specialist bodies as the Wader Study Group and more widely by ringers who cooperate in such studies as the Constant Effort Sites.
