Abstract
To the Editor:— As one burdened with the cares of a hospital blood bank, I was delighted to read in an article by Dr. Benjamin Rigor et al (203:399, 1968), that most of my problems could be solved by the use of a panacean nostrum called Hartmann's solution. While every child above the age of 3 in Kentucky, where Dr. Rigor practices, may know what Hartmann's solution is, I was dismayed to find that I did not, nor did my associate. After vainly reading thru the article three times in search of a clue as to the composition of this magical juice, I went down to our pharmacy and had it looked up in a reference volume calledRemington's Pharmaceutical Sciences. It turns out that under its generic name Hartmann's solution is good old lactated Ringer's injection USP, PHI; and of the five alternative names listed, Hartmann's solution is
