Abstract
Today, 1 January 2018, I am sitting in my garden in Hobart, Tasmania, thinking about the year ahead. Among the clearest thoughts to emerge from such reflections are those related to Geographical Research and its role as the international journal for the Institute of Australian Geographers Incorporated. By my reckoning, this year marks the Institute’s 60th in the service of the discipline, and in April, the journal will have been 55 years in production.
